As this was the first week of the Creative Practitioners Programme with Ballyowen Special School Senior Group and 6th Class from St.Columbanus we started with introductions adn talking about what we like to do in art. Alison then did slide show of the work of Mondrian and we talked about the colours and lines he uses in his work. The group then split into three smaller groups and worked on Mondrian jigsaws together.
We then used simple drawing materials – pencils, graphite, and charcoal to experiment with different lines and marks we could make. We passed our drawings around and worked on top of each others drawings using different words to give us ideas for different lines eg. straight, short, long, fast, slow, thin, light, dots dashes, zig zag, tangled etc. Still using only black and white we used these drawings as a starting point and composition for collages using different sorts of paper we cut and tore the paper to make different lines and shapes. layering the paper on top of each other.
