Dalkey School Project Session 4 with Eamon Sweeney, musician: 2 May 2014 – Concepts, Transition, Expression, Continuing Development

The Easter break over…
The last block of sessions before the end of  the school year upon us….

The group used this session to focus on what the themes our artwork might explore and what type of presentation we might make at the end of our work together.

We discussed the end of primary school days and ideas related to the concept transitioning. We talked about ‘Rites of Passage’ and viewed some footage of tribal initiation practices.
We spoke of the changes the class were facing over  the next few months and the opportunity was given for everyone to share anonymously some positive and negative thoughts and feelings they had about entering secondary school. The offerings were placed on the electronic whiteboard for all to view and discuss – there were many overlaps and repetition of ideas. Sometimes the same concept could be positive and negative…
This is an image of the whiteboard that day:

We discussed the feeling of time passing and the group composed answering phrases to the proposition ‘I felt its touch as it passed….’
