Holy Family NS – Monkstown, 6th class – Artist: Tunde Toth – Session 1

3 March 2015 – SESSION 1

After some delay – we have finally started our project at Holy Family school!

It was a start with a bit of a challenge – beginning with the broad theme of `Children`s Lives during WW2`(certainly not my comfort zone!) and having some discussions and brain storming about this with the class, a group of children who were a bit slow or shy to interact first.

We did manage to get some mind maps going however – and some interesting ideas have emerged!!

I envisage that many of these ideas, themes and visuals will shift and change during the project. Our work will focus on processes of how we perceive a theme, anticipate pictures/images, explore and ultimately move away from these anticipated images. We are going to use various Print Making techniques and processes, starting with simple, descriptive mono prints following with more abstract collographs. Exciting aspect – to investigate a parallel and interactive connection between changes in imagery and technique.
