20 March – Session 2
During our second session we introduced simple mono printing techniques followed by some variations on stenciling.
The strong, dark tones of the prints are the result of using and leaving too much ink on the acetate plates – it takes time to learn how to control ink and colour, how to focus on drawing and clarity in the same time. I thought that the dark tones somehow became very relevant also – reflecting on the rather grim themes of the prints: weapons, destruction, food shortages…etc.
Throughout the project we are trying to establish a continued documentation and reflection on processes and ideas – I hope that making notes, drawings, sketches in the art diaries will become an integrated part of the process!
