Following on from last week – more games, more skill development, more fun, more instruments. Musical games explore important concepts such as: stopping together/starting together; loud/quiet; beat & pulse; high & low pitch; timbre and… enjoyment.
Playing music in a circle can help develop useful musical skills – waiting your turn; circularity of rhythms, keeping a steady beat, eye contact, awareness of each other. Today we continued our skill development with more games and listened to all the instruments in ‘Tubby the Tuba’s’ Orchestra – on a classic recording with the voice of the wonderful Danny Kaye.
A wonderful first morning working with everybody. A morning of getting to know each other – play games and develop both our musical skills and our sense of being a musical group. Great fun!
Lovely morning meeting the class and getting stuck into music-making. As with Junior Infants we spent time getting to know each other a bit and playing musical games to support skill development. Also heard the story of ‘Tubby the Tuba’ and his friend Peepo the Piccolo.
